GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Mark your calendars for the third-annual Cinema Verde Environmental Film and Arts Festival, which will be held Feb. 24 to March 2.Cinema Verde is an ongoing local effort created to promote sustainable businesses and green living in the Gainesville community.
Cinema Verde will offer numerous events during this year’s festival. Environmental films, Eco-Art Walk (Feb. 24), an informational Eco Fair (Feb. 25-26), expert speakers and a recycled fashion show are a few of the attractions scheduled for the event.

The event will be held at Villa East, 301 N Main St. Food and drinks will be provided by Celebrations Catering, the company that owns the building, for a nominal fee. Cinema Verde will set up the Villa East banquet hall as a theater so patrons can enjoy dinner and a movie during the festival. Some of the film directors may be present during the screenings.

“We realize that our audience members are busy and the idea of trying to see several of our featured films throughout the week is challenging,” said founding director Trish Riley. “We are thrilled that Celebrations Catering will be partnering with us to make each night easy on our guests as well as fun and relaxing. The very best way to support our environmental education effort is to be a part of our audience, so we’re working together to create a varied menu of items for sale so we won’t be dining on the same fare each night.”

VIP passes, which allow purchasers access to half or all of the films plus special events such as the VIP Opening Night Reception on Feb. 24 and the Awards Night and Wrap Party on March 2, are available for $50 and $100.

We will have an opening night VIP Reception on Feb. 24, 5 – 8 p.m. (free by invitation and VIP pass holders or public access tickets $25), then Eco-ArtWalk ‘til 10 p.m. (free).
